Thinking about relocating to Saugus from Sacramento
Alright, We have two kids and It's a a smaller city city with about 28,599 people. Homes are going for about $589,500 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 56, moved here 3 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Can feel isolated
3. The outdoor recreation situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for retirees. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in legal. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.
