Alright, Poverty rate is 17.6%, which is higher than I expected. It's a a small town city with about 9,724 people. Rent is about $1,504/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $101,900 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. What do you all think? The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in finance. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
