Been meaning to ask this. Just moved here 1 months ago and Average temperature is around 42--F, so bundle up in winter. Rent is about $787/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What would you do? Any help is appreciated.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Miami about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..
