How is Savage for outdoor activities?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Thoughts? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Westside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
