Should I move to Savannah or stay in Dallas?

Hey folks, I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $225,200 on average. The median home value here is around $225,200, which is actually reasonable. It's a a mid-size city city with about 148K people. Median household income is $56,782, which feels about average for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Fairview for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is improving

The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'm a software engineer and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
