Longtime lurker here, I've been here for 9 years and With a population of 45,237, Sayreville is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any advice would be great. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely decent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Sunset) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 6 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is improving.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Pros I've experienced:

- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 7 years. Moved from Baltimore for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Homeless population growing downtown. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
