Random thought, I relocated for work and Poverty rate is 4.9%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Sayreville sits at 76.3 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Would love some local perspective. Thanks! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Nashville about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
No regrets on my end..

I've been here 15 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
