What I wish I knew before living in Sayville

I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $2,339 for rent here. With a population of 15,593, Sayville is a small town. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What are your go-to spots? Cheers. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 1 years. Moved from Seattle for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Bugs and humidity in summer. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been in Old Town for 7 years. Moved from San Francisco for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is decent - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Winters are long and cold. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Denver about 6 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Highland for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The job market scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The cost of living is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.
