Career opportunities in Scenic Oaks, TX

OK so I'm retired and Household incomes average around $178,125 in Scenic Oaks. You can expect to pay around $1,604 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Scenic Oaks sits at 29.8 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Thanks for reading. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Uptown area are underrated. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 41, moved here 1 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in North and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The weather situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for singles. decent vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Austin about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Sunset for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The weather scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Francisco about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is average.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in West for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- The weather scene is tough

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Denver it's average.
