With a population of 76,780, Schaumburg is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $312,200 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much growing but now it's excellent.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is decent in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (East) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Uptown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
- The public transit scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 14 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is average - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Chain restaurants dominate. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The public transit is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- The pet-friendliness scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've been in The Heights for 7 years. Moved from Phoenix for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Dating scene is rough. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
