Job market in Schenectady for tech?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Median household income is $56,398, which feels about average for the area. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What would you do?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely tough and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Oak Park area are average. Kids love it here.
