Pros and cons of Schererville after 12 years

Not sure if this has been asked before, but It's a a smaller city city with about 29,627 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
