What's it really like living in Schiller Park?
Been living here since 2012. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 11,454, Schiller Park is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,214 for rent here. Homes are going for about $276,200 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.
Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Plenty of shopping options
- Active local events
Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- High property taxes
Any advice would be great. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up.
