Is Schulenburg getting better or worse?

Hey everyone, It's a a small town city with about 2,702 people. With a population of 2,702, Schulenburg is a small town. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 36, moved here 13 years ago from New York. I've lived in The Heights and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The pet-friendliness situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for remote workers. tough vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Thai places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great seafood places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
