Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Phoenix about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've lived in West for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 34, moved here 6 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Riverside and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The walkability situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
