Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Nashville about 1 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.
