Unpopular opinion about Scottsburg

Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $786/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much developing but now it's average.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Korean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
