Thinking about relocating to Scottsville from Baltimore
Been meaning to ask this. The unemployment rate is 6.8%, which is concerning. Median household income is $36,259, which feels on the lower side for the area. Homes are going for about $140,600 on average. With a population of 4,391, Scottsville is a small town. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I wrong here? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've been in Highland for 1 years. Moved from Boston for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is improving - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Rising rent and home prices. And cultural scene can be frustrating.
