Housing in Seabrook compared to St. Louis

I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 18,495, Seabrook is a small town. Poverty rate is 8.0%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Any advice would be great. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 5 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great craft beer places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 7 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is tough in most areas.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely average and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Uptown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Eastside area are tough. Kids love it here.
