Cost of living reality check -Seagoville

OK so Crime rate is something to consider -Seagoville sits at 81.8 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,152 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Has anyone dealt with this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 37, moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in North and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Affordable housing options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited entertainment options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The dating scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for retirees. average vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
