I'm a college student here and Homes are going for about $176,200 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely underrated and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Old Town) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

I work in finance here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Happy to answer more specific questions..
