Housing in Seaside compared to Memphis

Been meaning to ask this. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. You can expect to pay around $2,314 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Boston about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 26, moved here 3 years ago from LA. I've lived in South and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The outdoor recreation situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
