Not sure if this has been asked before, but I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $912,100, which is pretty steep. With a population of 741K, Seattle is a major city. Rent is about $1,998/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $912,100 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I'm a accountant and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 35, moved here 3 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in South and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The community vibe situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for young professionals. decent vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
