Working in Seattle — salaries realistic?

Median household income is $121,984, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,998 for rent here. Poverty rate is 4.9%, which is pretty low. With a population of 741K, Seattle is a major city. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Let me know your thoughts. TIA! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Sunset area are average. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Midtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The housing market scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..
