Longtime lurker here, The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. The median home value here is around $281,700, which seems about average. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Downtown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The weather scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
