Is Security-Widefield getting better or worse?

It's a a smaller city city with about 38,659 people. Rent is about $1,703/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I'm a contractor and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Nashville about 15 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
