Hey everyone, I relocated for work and It's a a small town city with about 8,498 people. The median home value here is around $306,600, which seems about average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here?

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to New York it's solid.

I work in manufacturing here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is underrated. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Eastside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The walkability scene is solid
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is average in most areas.

I work in engineering here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is challenging. No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 55, moved here 2 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Fairview and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The housing market situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Boston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much reasonable but now it's surprisingly good.
