Day-to-day life in Selma, NC

I'm single, late 40s, and Rent is about $824/month for a decent place. Median household income is $37,440, which feels on the lower side for the area. The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $824 for rent here. Poverty rate is 25.9%, which is higher than I expected. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
Let me know your thoughts. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
