Military spouse here. Median household income is $77,335, which feels about average for the area. With a population of 19,336, Seminole is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,645 for rent here. Rent is about $1,645/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What do you all think? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Cedar Grove. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Sunset for 4 years. Moved from Portland for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Urban sprawl is real. And safety can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
