Rent vs buy in Seneca Falls -what makes sense?

Hey folks, You can expect to pay around $905 for rent here. The median home value here is around $119,300, which is actually reasonable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Has anyone dealt with this? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Southern places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I've lived in Riverside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- The public transit scene is decent

The downsides:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Oak Park area are decent. Kids love it here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'm a sales manager and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (South) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much manageable but now it's challenging.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The traffic is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.
