I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $97,083 in Serenada. The median home value here is around $448,700, which is pretty steep. With a population of 1,513, Serenada is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Serenada sits at 286.5 per 100K. Homes are going for about $448,700 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to.
Pros:
- Good job market
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Close to nature
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Cold winters
- High property taxes
- Chain restaurants dominate
Anyone in a similar situation? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Springfield for 11 years. Moved from Tampa for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Limited high-paying job options. And dating scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a HR manager and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
