Why I chose Severna Park over bigger cities

Anyone else feel this way? Should I be concerned? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

The food scene here is surprisingly good. Tons of great Italian places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The safety is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Austin it's decent.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 9 years. Moved from Charlotte for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is average - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Far from beaches/mountains. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 12 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Greenfield for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The pet-friendliness scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
