Curious what people think. I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $262,800, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,530/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Seymour sits at 557.6 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Appreciate any input. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a HR manager, 46, moved here 11 years ago from Austin. I've lived in East and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The public transit situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for young professionals. improving vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
