Seymour is underrated, change my mind

Hey folks, I'm single, late 30s, and What would you do? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely improving and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The community vibe is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely better than expected and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Fairview for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options
- The public transit scene is improving

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Uptown area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.
