How much do you pay for rent in Shafer?

Been meaning to ask this. Average temperature is around 44--F, so bundle up in winter. Crime rate is something to consider -Shafer sits at 181.0 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 1,151 people. Median household income is $96,042, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Houston about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is average.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps!.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great seafood places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
