What I wish I knew before living in Shaker Heights

OK so We're a young couple and Median household income is $97,721, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 29,004, Shaker Heights is a smaller city. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The walkability is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Sunset for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
- The traffic scene is decent

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
