Housing in Shakopee compared to Las Vegas

Anyone else feel this way? Worth the trade-offs? Thanks!

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great seafood places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it exceeded my expectations.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from LA about 5 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The walkability is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 5 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Portland it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 5 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 7 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
