Job hunting in Shanor-Northvue -tips?

OK so Homes are going for about $243,600 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What do you all think? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 8 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Eastside area are improving. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely solid and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Fairview) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- The community vibe scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..
