Rent vs buy in Sharonville -what makes sense?

My family moved here when I was a kid. The unemployment rate is 1.0%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $70,781 in Sharonville. You can expect to pay around $1,129 for rent here. Homes are going for about $207,900 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Has anyone dealt with this? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from LA about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Uptown for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The traffic scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Riverside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The nightlife scene is tough

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.
