Hi all, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $50,833 in Sharpsburg. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $50,833, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a a small town city with about 3,146 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thoughts? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I've lived in Old Town for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The community vibe scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The cultural scene is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.
