Anyone else love living in Shawnee?

I'm a 29-year-old chef and Crime rate is something to consider -Shawnee sits at 212.7 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What are your go-to spots? The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
