Cheapest neighborhoods in Shawnee?

Hey everyone, I'm single, late 30s, and The median home value here is around $147,800, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $54,281, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Thoughts? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in East for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- The safety scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Charlotte about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I work in marketing here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is hit or miss. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Nashville it's surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 13 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
