Random thought, I've been here for 10 years and Homes are going for about $147,800 on average. With a population of 31,511, Shawnee is a smaller city. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Would love some local perspective. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in South. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The traffic is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
