Remote worker thinking about Sheboygan

Curious what people think. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $874/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Sheboygan sits at 358.1 per 100K. Poverty rate is 8.4%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What would you do? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Miami about 9 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Greenfield for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The traffic scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in South area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Came here for weather and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The public transit is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great seafood places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
