Alright, With a population of 2,571, Shelby is a small town. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. What are your go-to spots? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for school and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor recreation is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Came here for school and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The pet-friendliness is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 10 years. Moved from LA for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is solid - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Limited entertainment options. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is tough in most areas.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.
