Best hidden gems in Shelbyville

Hey, I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $238,600, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $73,733 in Shelbyville. Median household income is $73,733, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 0.9%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Appreciate any input. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
