Anyone else love living in Sheldon?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I grew up here but left for a while. It's a a small town city with about 5,386 people. Household incomes average around $68,448 in Sheldon. Poverty rate is 10.2%, which is around average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I overthinking this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in engineering. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in finance. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
