Curious what people think. We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 67--F, so the weather is moderate. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What do you all think?

I've lived in Highland for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- The outdoor recreation scene is tough
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
