So, We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Shepherdsville sits at 175.8 per 100K. Homes are going for about $202,300 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. Should I be concerned?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.
