Moving to Shepherdsville for work -advice?

Anyone else feel this way? You can expect to pay around $898 for rent here. With a population of 14,351, Shepherdsville is a small town. Poverty rate is 15.0%, which is around average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. What neighborhoods would you suggest? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely challenging and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 12 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
